Adam Brody Joins Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere In ‘Scream 4′

Though actors like Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin and Nico Tortorella have already been cast in”Scream 4″ (alongside franchise regulars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette), more have surfaced today. “The O.C.” babe Adam Brody will also star in the Kevin Williamson-written, Wes Craven-directed horror flick.

According to the Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog, Adam has been cast alongside Marley Shelton and Erik Knudsen. Adam and Marley will both play cops — him as a rookie who loves shows like “CSI,” and her as one who went to school with Neve’s character. Erik is on board to play a dude who knows a lot about horror flick — much like Jamie Kennedy’s iconic role in the original.

Shooting begins this week in Michigan and apparently there’s a lot of secrecy on set in order to preserve the identity of the killer. Here’s one tip we’ve learned from watching horror flicks: don’t run upstairs when the killer is in your house.

And while the flick does boast a few original characters, the plan is to pass the franchise off to the new class. But someone always has to stay behind. We assume that David will be the Screech in this case. If you don’t know what I’m talking about do your “Saved By The Bell: The New Class” research.

Emma Roberts Hates Boys in ‘It’s Kind of a Funny Story’ Trailer

Based on the young adult novel by Ned Vizzini, It’s Kind of a Funny Story is about a depressed, suicidal teen who checks himself into a mental hospital, befriends one fellow patient (Galifianakis) and falls for another (Roberts), even though she wears a t-shirt proclaiming that she hates boys. It seems a familiar story — I wonder how many romances are actually begun in psyche wards — but at least Galifianikis should provide some nice comic relief. And judging by the art theme and especially from the cartoony bits that we’ll be seeing a poster designed by Mojo (Away We Go; (500) Days of Summer) any day now.

If you can’t get enough whimsical comedy set to indie music like Ida Maria and you’d like to welcome Roberts to the manic pixie dream girl club, check out the trailer for It’s Kind of a Funny Story after the jump.

EMMA ROBERTS PONDERS WEIGHTY QUESTION

SHE has only been famous for five minutes but already Emma Roberts, left, actress niece of superstar Julia, says she is all too aware of Hollywood’s weight obsession.
The 19-year-old daughter of actor Eric Roberts recently appeared alongside Julia, 42, in Valentine’s Day and is starring in British director Noel Clarke’s 4-3-2-1, but admits that she is becoming increasingly puzzled by the pressure on her when it comes to her figure.
“I don’t know what the right place is. If you’re too big they say you’re fat and if you’re too small they say you’re anorexic,” she tells Day & Night.
“I’m happy with myself. I try to eat right but I have McDonald’s once in a while and I try to work out.”

Emma Roberts Credits Hard Work for Success, Not Aunt Julia

Emma Roberts is the niece of Oscar-winner Julia Roberts, but that doesn’t mean a Hollywood career was just handed to her. Instead, the 19-year-old swears she’s had to work hard for her success.
She explained: “Sometimes it’s frustrating because people think I’m only working or doing stuff because of my family when that’s not true at all.
“We actually try to keep work life and family life completely separate, so it’s just frustrating when I hear that because I’ve worked really hard. But I just have to fight for myself, fight to be accepted in a way and make my own name for myself.”
But the actress would never change her name to escape her family ties. She added to the Metro newspaper: “I think that’s a little ridiculous because people will find out anyway and then you look like you’re trying too hard to be different. You might as well just go with it.”
Emma recently revealed she doesn’t seek professional advice from Julia, and the pair choose to keep their work chats to a minimum.
She said: “Does my aunt give me advice? We don’t really talk about the business together. I mean, I’ll visit her on set when she’s working on a movie and she asks me what I’m doing but otherwise, no.”

Emma Roberts: I want to be like Natalie Portman, not Lindsay Lohan

Emma Roberts, 19, acted alongside her aunt Julia Roberts earlier this year in hit romcom Valentine’s Day. She also stars as Addie Singer in the Nickelodeon television series Unfabulous. Roberts appears in Noel Clarke’s new film 4.3.2.1

Are you ever lonely, like your character Joanne in 4.3.2.1?

Not really. Not even when I’m in London because I made a film there before, Wild Child, and I made a lot of friends. I remember I was such a tourist when I was in London that first time. I was going around taking pictures of everything: “Look! It says ‘pub’! Let me take a picture of that”.

Do you feel the pressure of being Julia Roberts’ niece?

Sometimes it’s frustrating because people think I’m only working or doing stuff because of my family when that’s not true at all. We actually try to keep work life and family life completely separate, so it’s just frustrating when I hear that because I’ve worked really hard. But I just have to fight for myself, fight to be accepted in a way and make my own name for myself.

Did you ever think about changing your surname?

No, I think that’s a little ridiculous because people will find out anyway and then you look like you’re trying too hard to be different. You might as well just go with it. Read more… »

Emma Roberts: ‘50 Cent is a teddy bear’

Emma Roberts has claimed that 50 Cent is a “cuddly teddy bear”.
The actress, who stars alongside the rapper in the upcoming drama Twelve, has revealed that he is a “sweet” guy to know.
Speaking to the Evening Standard: “He’s such a sweet, cuddly guy. He looks just like a teddy bear.”
Roberts also insisted that her life off-screen is mundane and quite low-key for a 19-year-old.
She added: “I feel like an old woman because I like to stay home and read and write and I’m exhausted by about 11pm.
“If I was ever photographed falling out of a club, my mum would be outside my apartment in ten minutes, telling me to move back in with her. My family and friends help keep me grounded.”
As of yet, Twelve has no official release date.
Noel Clarke recently said that Emma Roberts could be more famous than her aunt Julia.
